Virtual Paradise 0.2.7

Post by Edwin »

Virtual Paradise version 0.2.7 is now available for download! :) There are some great changes in this version like 3D sound and faster loading objects(it loads 3 at the same time now). Check the changelog to see what the other changes are.

Cool, a lot of performance improvements. Any chance of getting some basic movement and/or object physics (Might not seem a priority, but setting the foundation and developing it further really does help) in the next few versions and enabling flying again?

Here's some physics engines if you are interested, or could always develop your own:

http://www.ode.org/
http://opal.sourceforge.net/
http://www.codeplex.com/JigLibX
http://www.tokamakphysics.com/

Anyways, keep up the great work :D

VP already uses a physics engine, it's called Bullet Physics, but it only uses it for the basic collision. This means there already is some kind of foundation for but the objects are not set to be moving and that would need some changes to get working.

Flying is enabled for the next version, it was disabled because it didn't work well with the collision detection but I fixed that now. :D

Oh cool, I've heard of Bullet. Object physics would definitely be interesting (the ability to take running jump into a stack and knock the objects down) later on in development, if at all. Anyways, keep up the great work! :D
